We're on a mission to conserve native habitats and farmlands for the health and well-being of Wisconsin's Driftless Area.
In this time of rapid climate change, our services help landowners and communities protect their land from development and restore its resilience and biodiversity.
We at Mississippi Valley Conservancy fulfill our mission in three ways:
We're an accredited nonprofit land trust that works with conservation-minded landowners who choose to permanently protect land through conservation easements and land acquisition efforts. We also assist landowners by connecting them with available funding and resources for land management.
We also own and manage public nature preserves where we restore native habitats to enhance biodiversity and protect declining species in this time of global climate change. Our staff and volunteers restore native habitat by removing invasive species, conducting prescribed burns, planting native species, and other best practices of habitat restoration. We also provide environmental education in efforts to enrich our local communities.
We serve the Wisconsin counties of Buffalo, Crawford, Grant, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Richland, Trempealeau, and Vernon.
Our work helps protect water, wildlife, fresh foods, outdoor recreation, local economies, and climate for the benefit of all. We're working to save the Driftless Area for the next generation that will inherit this planet from us.
