Care about conservation? We need your help!
The health of our communities, farms, and wildlife depends on our members, donors and volunteers.
You can be a part of it by:
- Becoming a member
- Volunteering "for the wild" to help in the field, in the office, or at events – learn more
- Becoming a Site Steward for a designated nature preserve
- Testing out your career choice with an internship
- Participating in educational events
- Speaking out about the need to protect land, water, and wildlife
Connecting friends and family with the lands we protect for public recreation
Enjoy a hike through nature preserves
Every year, hundreds of people enjoy hikes and activities on our nature preserves. We offer many planned outdoor activities on conserved land, including snowshoeing, foraging, stargazing, yoga, nature bathing, and guided nature hikes. Opportunities also abound for bird watching, biking, nature photography, fishing and hunting. Click for maps and directions to the nature preserves we protect.
Volunteer for the Wild
You can help protect and enhance the beautiful Driftless Area we call home by volunteering at one of our monthly Volunteer for the Wild workdays. Whether you are handy with a chain saw, or just want to collect seeds on a leisurely hike, we have a volunteer event for every skill level. You just let us know what you would like to do or learn to do, and we can find the perfect opportunity for you. Make it a group event by inviting friends, family members or co-workers and then treat yourself to some ice cream or a beverage after you finish! We have even had people come out to celebrate their wedding anniversary by giving their time at a nature preserve! Check out this huge tree planting project we recently completed:
